Set in 400 acres of breathtaking Cheshire countryside lies the enchanting Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Venue, a family run business which has been specifically designed with weddings in mind. With a fairy-tale, rural setting, each element of your day...has been carefully considered, from the moment you walk down the aisle to that momentous first dance.
Built to a traditional rural design, the Oak Barn is rustic, light and airy, and allows you and your guests to flow effortlessly from ceremony to reception drinks and the wedding breakfast. In the summer, light floods through the full-length windows, giving extensive views across the lake and the rolling Cheshire countryside, or you can enjoy a romantic outdoor wedding next to the lake under the Clock Tower. Those choosing a winter wedding can experience the warmth of the mellow oak beams elegantly lit by the wrought iron chandeliers, watch the sun set over the lake whilst enjoying your wedding breakfast, with the reassuring convenience of having your entire wedding under one roof.
Start your day the right way
The Dressing Room is just a few steps from the Oak Barn and provides a haven of tranquillity with all that you and your entourage could need.
The Shepherd’s Hut is a fantastic space for your partner to get ready before the ceremony – they deserve some pampering too! With delightful views over the lake, it’s cosy but well-equipped, and perfectly positioned within the grounds for a little relaxation before the big event.
The Oak Barn:
This magnificent rustic barn set beside a six-acre lake, and surrounded by rolling Cheshire countryside, creates a breathtaking scene. Designed specifically for barn weddings, it boasts dedicated space for your ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening entertainment.
The Ceremony Barn will greet you and your guests on arrival. With oak flooring and full height windows overlooking the lake, this is an idyllic space to say ‘I do’.
A grand piano sits at one end, perfectly positioned for music during the wedding ceremony or to be heard while guests enjoy drinks on the adjoining verandah. If you would like a religious ceremony, there are many beautiful churches just a short drive away.
The high ceilings and oak beams lead through to The Dining Barn, an impressive space that can be curtained off from the ceremony area during your nuptials. With a wall of French doors opening onto the verandah, you can thoroughly appreciate the countryside setting. The décor is elegant and neutral with wrought iron chandeliers and wall lights crafted by our local blacksmith, leading to a rustic feel. A versatile area, the oak barn can easily accommodate 140 for a wedding breakfast, and yet is also perfectly suited for more intimate celebrations. Following your wedding breakfast, you and your guests can enjoy coffee or drinks on the verandah or at the licensed bar before dancing the night away on the dance floor.
The Clock Tower:
If you’d love to say your vows in the great outdoors, the beautiful oak Clock Tower is licensed for civil ceremonies between April and October, and provides the perfect romantic setting.
Standing on the shores of the lake overlooking the rolling countryside, it features an area paved with stone, ideal for guest seating. After the ceremony, enjoy drinks and canapés on the verandah with your choice of music playing in the background, before inviting your guests to dine in the Oak Barn.
If you decide to tie the knot inside the barn, The Clock Tower makes a wonderful setting for photographs, even in the rain! Finally, during evening celebrations, this is a great spot for a hog roast or barbecue, or to sit out on a balmy summer’s evening watching the sunset over the lake, with the heaters underneath the eaves creating a little extra warmth.
The Outdoor Space:
Outdoor space is plentiful at Sandhole Oak Barn. From scenic rolling countryside to landscaped gardens, there are a multitude of idyllic spots for mingling with guests or taking those all-important wedding photographs.
Outdoor wedding ceremonies can take place under the licensed Clock Tower, while the lakeside verandah is a dream setting for welcome drinks before your wedding breakfast, or to relax over drinks or coffee in the evening. Extending the length of The Oak Barn, the verandah is reached directly from the outside, or from four elegant French doors leading out of the rustic barn itself.
A stylish decked area featuring contemporary furniture and surrounded by fairy lights, there couldn’t be a more romantic place to watch the sun setting over the lake. Let the day soak in as you gaze over to the grand oak tree on the far shores, beautifully lit after dark.
The Small Bar:
Separate from The Oak Barn, The Small Barn is a spacious lounge with an intimate feel for you and your guests to relax in, from the moment you first arrive at Sandhole to your departure the next day.
With its own kitchen and French doors leading to a pretty, fenced garden, it’s a great spot to welcome early guests.
Alternatively you can use it to host a crèche for any children at your wedding, or as a quiet space for those looking to escape the thrills of the dance floor! And, at the end of your day, it’s the perfect place to wind down and enjoy a nightcap with your nearest and dearest.
